Your Next 24 Hours

'Tis the time of year to make plans for our future. We may establish lofty goals for the next 12 months, 5 years or even a lifetime in some cases. But, what about your next 24 hours?

During my first walks of 2017, there appears to be more people out exercising and jogging sporting new running shoes and shiny fitbits. Experts teaching how to write objectives and the importance of planning ahead. Social media shares of memes and posts wishing good riddance to 2016 and “watch out 2017” because much will be accomplished. But, what about your next 24 hours?

I admit to being a planner. In my non-fiction book Your Action, Your Success, I share my take on motivating ourselves to get things done. My goals for 2017 are set and ready for me to begin achieving and I would guess a few of you have your list's logged as well. But, what about your next 24 hours?

I've asked the same question 3 times because many cannot think long-term. Their challenge is more like — how can I make it through the next 24 hours?

Consider the 2 camps here.

The first being those individuals who choose to skip over setting objectives for numerous reasons: habit, simple choice, lack of discipline, not wanting to fail, and a myriad of others.

The second camp are those who simply are unable to think beyond one day due to health issues, debilitating circumstances and overwhelming limitations. We can all pitch our tents in this homestead from time to time, yet some reside there every single day.

No matter which camp you fall into all or part of the time, you can still move forward with your life. Most of us already know the areas we wish to improve upon or pursue. Last I checked, we all still live our lives one day at a time, so in your next 24 hours, think:

  • What can I start doing, today?

  • What can I do differently, today?

  • What can I stop doing, today?

When you wake up tomorrow morning and for every morning this year, I encourage you to ask yourself those 3 questions and work hard to accomplish at least ONE of them. Huge shifts can occur when we take small actions. So whether you have a 2017 goal list or not, focus on what you can do in your next 24 hours.

All the best to you in 2017!
